Intro
Talking Handball is a weekly newsletter for Handball coaches. I am Sergio Palazzi and I love Handball. I would like to share with other Handball coaches and Handball fan my point of view about the game, what happened on the court, how coaches thought about the game, how Handball evolves and has evolved, how technique changes, how strategies are implemented.
This issue is just an explanation of what you will find inside Talking Handball. You will receive a pair of “beta-issues” during next weeks and then we will start on weekly basis in the mid of September.
The Game
In this section, you will find a tactical analysis of a match. Videos, screenshots, stats, notes, everything that could help to explain why a team won or why a team lost.
I don’t know yet how I will choose the match to analyse. It could be the match of the week in Champions League or European League or a big match in one of the best European leagues. Of course, during National Team weeks there will be room for National Teams.
Probably, it will be the one that catches my interest or that deserves to be talked about.
An Idea
Here you can find, every week, a different aspect - strategy, tactics, principles of play, technique, stats or something else - of Handball that could have interested me. I will try to be precise and exhaustive, without writing an essay. I don’t want to bore you.
This is not a Drill
Drills are overrated. Web is full of drills and is empty about “how to”. Methodology makes difference. Where the coach is positioned during training. How many times he or she intervenes. What is worth to observe, to say. How to fight and win against coaches’ biggest enemy: time.
Here you will find a methodological principle of training and how to apply it to your training…and maybe a drill.
Outro
In this last section, I will report everything (I try!) about Handball: matches to watch, links, videos, news. And maybe answer to your questions!
Read you soon,
Sergio
